Miss Mae’s Bar-B-Que has a long standing tradition in Wimberley since 1957 when Steve’s Grandmother Miss Mae moved to the Wimberley Valley as a Rancher rasing Angora Goats, Sheep and Cattle. It was common for her to BBQ for ranch hands and family gatherings when she wasn’t on a horse tending livestock herself. That tradition carried on when she opened the Red Barn Pit Bar-B-Que on the square in Wimberley in 1983. After she passed away in 1997 Steve Dunks opened Miss Mae’s Bar-B-Que and carries on the tradition with his grandmother’s original recipes. Everything is homemade from scratch and pot licking good!
